Dena began her public safety career as a paramedic and later attended the fire academy. During her career, she has served in dispatch on an intermittent basis. Dena retired from a twenty-three-year career in law enforcement, spending the last ten years in the crimes against children unit. She understands the rewards, demands, and stress of being a public servant and 9-1-1 operator/dispatcher. She has chosen to help others in the same capacity.
Through her experiences with her daughter, she has gained an understanding that the children of public servants and veterans may be affected by their parents’ chosen profession. Often these children may develop issues or concerns resulting in needing therapy in a safe place from someone that their parents trust.
